Hostess Tip: Toasting Made Easy
Birthdays and gatherings with guests of honor
require a tap on the glass and a sincere
expression for those being celebrated. How can
one be witty, appropriate, succinct, festive and
non-offensive in one breath? Memorize a
tasteful and trusted toast. Here are a few
time-honored toasts to memorize and commemorate
the special occasions of life. These toasts can
be personalized by adding the cause for
celebration and name of the individual to the
beginning or end of the toast. “Here’s to a
friend. He knows you well and likes you the
same. Happy 50th Birthday Jack.”
Toasts for all occasions:
-
May our house always be too small to hold
all of our friends.
-
May we have more and more friends, and need
them less and less.
-
Here’s to a full belly, a heavy purse and a
light heart.
-
To my friend:
If we ever disagree, may you be in the
right.
-
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
-
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.
-
May there always be work for your hands to
do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine warm on your
windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each
rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to
cheer you.
-
May you live all the days of your life.
-
Old wood to burn,
Old books to read,
Old wine to drink,
Old friends to trust.
-
"To get the full value of joy, you must have
someone to divide it with." -- Mark Twain
-
May the most you wish for, be the least you
get.
